Doors, Gates and Latches

Magnetic products are practical, easy to use tools and are commonly used to solve issues with problematic doors, gates and cabinetry. Some magnets combine with a metal striker to create a magnetic latch. Other magnets have a central hole and can be attached with a screw to a gate post or wall to keep doors closed or open.

Outdoors, a magnetic latch can overcome the windy conditions that blow doors shut. Inside commercial vehicles, boats, RV’s and caravans they are ideal for securing cabinets and draws that would otherwise fly open during transit. Two matched countersunk magnets with opposite poles are an ideal way to join two materials together or to secure an opening. When each magnet is recessed and secured into opposite surfaces with a screw, they attract and bond together firmly. Storage containers, utility compartments and access covers can be held in place with magnets and without the need for mechanical latches that often break or corrode over time.

Some Latch magnets are specifically designed to fit beneath cabinet shelves where they hold the door closed and can be adjusted with a screw to attain more or less grip. Whether you choose a ready-made magnetic latch device containing ceramic magnets or decide to make your own magnet-based solution with powerful Neodymium magnets, AMF has all the magnets you need to keep doors, gates and cupboards closed, so the contents remain safe and secure.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
